All About KNOWLEDGE // Knowledge Stones // Ancient Plaques // Ancient Ruins // Alien Monoliths
All languages and stories of all races can be learned. There are several ways to do so.
Talking to People
One of the easiest is to talk to individuals - mostly to be found on Space Stations - and learn new words from them.
Knowledge Stones
The probably easiest to learn a language are the Knowledge Stones, than can be found scattered throughout each planet.
Alien Artifacts
Then, there's the Alien Artifacts, namely Ancient Plaques, Ancient Ruins, and Alien Monoliths.
In order to find them, you'll either have to search for them on planets (in populated systems), or purchase Alien Cartographic Charts from the Cartographer on Space Stations. "Activate" such a chart, and it will reveal to you the location of one of those three ancient structures, on the planet you're currently on.
The Ancient Plaques and Ancient Ruins are the locations that will teach you more about the race's story and lore.
The Alien Monoliths, however, are the only ones that will (mostly) also teach you words of Atlas. Words of Atlas can also be learned on Atlas Stations. Once you've learned all Atlas words and there's no more Atlas words to learn, it will say "Atlas communications fully mapped".
Korvax Monoliths are also the only ones with a "hidden" Discordant Interface, which can convert the Monolith into an Atlantid Monolith, a Monolith that is connected to the Autophage.
Should the case emerge that you've learned the entire lore of a race, but want to continue finding Monoliths and learning words of Atlas from them, then all you need to do is having an Ancient Plaque and an Ancient Ruin location from the Charts active, and not visit them, but instead only visit the Monoliths. After reaching the Monolith, whenever you "activate" another one of those Charts, it will either tell you "Similar building already marked", or reveal the next Monolith. Whenever the former happens, keep "activating" the Chart, until it reveals to you the next Monolith. This way, you don't have to visit each found location and waste your charts on useless locations, but use them for Monoliths only.
From what race you learn the words and stories depend on the race that is the dominant one in the star system, i.e. the race that has populated the star system.
