The Selfless Vagabond

In all my travels, I have finally found my path. My story begins in the small village known as Bamboo - A quiet place, until recently, but not without it's troubles. It was plagued by bandits, and further by the presence of the six clans. They squabble and fight to no end, and attempt to lure all who pass through into their "clans". The bandits were no problem, with the combined efforts of myself and the independent villagers - Yet the clansmen will not be easily removed, and I have not the patience to try. I have found it to be in the best interests of myself and the villagers if I move along.

My journey was long and arduous, yet not without rewards. I have seen and learned much more than I had expected. The bustling town of Hefei, the tranquil forests of Zhengzou, even the wastelands known as Datong or the money-obsessed land of Hangzhou. All have had their own wonders, and it has so forth been quite a journey. I know, however, that the real journey is only just beginning. And so, before I continue on I must share what I've learned:

Accept everything just the way it is.
Do not seek pleasure for its own sake.
Do not, under any circumstances, depend on a partial feeling.
Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world.
Be detached from desire your whole life long.
Do not regret what you have done.
Never be jealous.
Never let yourself be saddened by a separation.
Resentment and complaint are appropriate neither for oneself nor others.
Do not let yourself be guided by the feeling of lust or love.
In all things have no preferences.
Be indifferent to where you live.
Do not hold on to possessions you no longer need.
Do not act following customary beliefs.
Do not collect weapons or practice with weapons beyond what is useful.
Do not fear death.
Do not seek to possess either goods or fiefs for your old age.
Respect others without counting on their help.
You may abandon your own body but you must preserve your honor.
Never stray from your path.

The Selfless Vagabond - The Way of Walking Alone

I suppose this is more of a fanfiction-ous thing, although more of a celebration of finally reaching Elemental Crown on Selfless. I can't post anything in that section yet, anyways, so this'll do for now.

Very amazing work, too bad it was never continued of a real fanfiction story never emerged.

Haha, wow. It's been so long I'd forgotten this existed. Don't know if I'll make a return to 9Dragons any time soon, but this is a nice little bit of nostalgia.

Hehe, know what you mean... I too came back last november or something. Grinding and leveling up pretty good - yet :lol:

I was working on this forum and found this topic in the General Forum, but after reading it I thought it should be moved into the Artistic Forum. I'd like to see a story thing of you and your Vagabond :)
